In the spring of 2018, the Huddle was instrumental in gathering concerned groups under the umbrella of the Coalition for Kids in order to work for passage of a school levy. Summers County hadn't passed a levy in nearly 40 years. When the levy failed in May, Huddle members wouldn't give up. We have created a fund with the Hinton Area Foundation called Summers County BOOSTER [Better Opportunities for Our Students' Talents, Education, and Resources].

The BOOSTER Fund intends to provide money for projects like a STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, Math] lab or major repairs to infrastructure.

Summers County BOOSTER is on Facebook. Be sure to like and follow the page for updates. You'll find a donation button on the page, as well.

The first BOOSTER project is underway. Above, staff members at Summers County High School accepted a generous donation of personal hygiene supplies for students.

Donations boxes are available at Big Four Drug Store, at the corner of Temple Street and 3rd Avenue (left), and at REACHH Family Resource Center (right). We encourage the public to donate supplies.
